My 9 year old loves this dress in the black color. She is slender and I purchased the size 10 medium which was just right, if not slightly smaller than expected (roxy runs small in my experience). The fabric is light weight cotton poplin? but the bodice and first two tiers of the dress are lined. The bodice and first tier of ruffles are separated by a band of elastic so some give in the fit around the rib cage. The straps are adustable via a button and choice of two button holes. She can wear it with flip flops or put a cardigan and nicer sandals on and wear it to a dressier spring/summer/fall event. Seems to be well-constructed but we have not tried washing it yet.
